Some of the top surfers in Hawaii face off in a North Shore vs. South Shore battle at Red Bull Rivals. With 12 of the 14 heats completed, the teams were tied at six wins each and South Shore had the advantage to pick who surfed the next two heats. Ultimately, the South Shore took a narrow victory, finishing eight to six over the North Shore.

20th edition of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc

Finally home from Morocco after 11 Airports, 6 Time Zones, 96 hours sitting on a plane, 7,094 photos, and brought back too much sand to count. Team Miller Fisher are finally on home soil as well. What a trip!!! I went to Morocco with Team Miller Fisher to capture beautiful imagery. The colors, smells and people were the reason for going. The Race its self was never something I thought I would focus on yet to my surprise it's what got me to those remote places one would normally never go. I really ended up in the middle of no where, it felt like the race directors just picked the most remote spots on the map and said "let's put a fucking check point there!" This is what makes the race!!! It's as hard as it get's. You have to be real tough or stupid to compete in the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles. Highlights for me were getting to drive with famous navigator Eric Loizeau in car 199. I was invited by Dominque Serra to take the drivers seat for one day of the event. This was the first time that a men's team competed in the Rallye.

I start my travels today from Kauai Hawaii to Tangier Morocco, 30 some hours of fly time.I am off to document Team Miller-Fisher as they take on for a second time The Rallye Aicha des Gazelles.The Rallye Aicha des Gazelles celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2010. The rally is a grueling nine day competition for women competitors only. The competition is done without GPS no pace notes are allowed. Navigation is done by compass and 1950's maps alone. It is a serious competition that combines technical driving skills with the utmost test of navigation abilities.I will attempt to do all this on a shoestring budget of $2,500 so follow along. I have really only scratched the surface of things to photograph here on island. First photo is the Wailua river.

Second is the old Coco Palms hotel. Elvis Presley filmed the finale of his film "Blue Hawaii" there in1961, immortalizing its lush coconut groves and picturesque lagoons.When Hurricane Iniki struck in September 1992 with less than eighthours warning, the Coco Palms was shut down indefinitely as repairsproved too costly, and the entire island struggled with recession. Theproperty, located on the southeast shore of Kauai, has been left todecay now for over a decade and a half. Kauai was without electricalpower for 40 days, without telephone communication for almost a monthin some areas, 80% of the homes were damaged or destroyed.
